Dong Hoi Is the Gateway

Dong Hoi is the provincial capital on the coast, roughly 45 km east of the caves, and it’s the hub for a reason: it has both an airport and a stop on Vietnam’s main north–south railway. From Dong Hoi to Phong Nha town and the cave area is a short trip:

• Taxi / private transfer — about 45 minutes, typically in the region of 400,000–500,000 VND for the car.
• Local bus — cheaper (around 35,000 VND) but slower, roughly 90 minutes.
